Today is our last in Chiang Mai before we head to the Capital, Bangkok, we have done most there is to offer here so it was another day catching rays and chilling by the pool again. Tough life. Our 15 hour train to Bangkok is at 5.30, so we left the pool at around 4 ish and went back to the hostel to get ready before getting a tuk tuk to the train station. The last one we got managed to be our best haggle, 30baht each for all 6 of us, which is about 70p. The train was quite late and we didn't end up leaving until around 6. Lloyd and Tim had sleeper tickets , so had decent comfy beds to sleep in. The girls were in the next carriage to the girls in recliner chairs and next to them was the restaurant carriage. We all met up in there after a bit and had a few drinks, before all heading off to try and get some sleep.
We were supposed to arrive at 8.30am in Bangkok but obviously somewhere during the night we got delayed as we didn't get there until about midday. So 20 hours it took us basically. We jumped in a taxi at the train station, where we all realised how long it had been since we had all been in a normal car with decent air con. We worked out Hanoi was the last time! It is surprising how much tuk tuk and taxi drivers don't know where they are going in the cities they work in, eventually we finally found the hostel which is not one of the best we've stayed in, the lobby smells a bit, but we have since realised that most of Bangkok smells. We all went in and had a quick freshen up, before going for a walk down the famous Khao San Road and finding a rooftop pool where we once again just chilled out.
Going out to see some interesting things tonight so will let you know how that goes soon….
