We woke up at around half 10 the next morning feeling quite fresh even though we had a few beers the night before, check out wasn't until one so we took our time getting packed then headed for breakfast, again at Café De Paris. This was the first time we had to ride mopeds with our big and small bags, it was easier than we thought as the big bags on ur backs just sit on the seat so it's as if we wasn't carrying anything! After breakfast we dropped our big bags at the moped rental office where they would get delivered to Chiang Mai on a mini bus along with Lloyds driving license as a deposit.
We then set off on our way on the 136km journey through the mountains with a rumoured 762 bends. A rumour which we definitely believe, we didn't go more than 200 metres without having to take a bend, whether it be a hair pin or a larger bend. The road was great and so fun, we even thought it was better than the route from Hue to Hoi An in Vietnam, the route that they did on 'Top Gear'. It took us just over two and a half hours to get there, nearly half as much time it took on the horrible hot mini bus and it was great fun, so definitely worth a couple of hundred baht ( £4 more ). We didn't see much of the scenery on the way but it was beautiful…. Full of forest.
The girls who were still in Chang Mai said they were just chilling at the pool at the hostel we stayed at before, so we went and met them before returning the mopeds as we worked out that our bags wouldn't be back at the Chiang Mai until about half 4, 5 ish. At about half four we found the AYA Service bike rental office and returned the bikes and got both our bags back and Lloyds driving license.
There is a big shopping mall in Chiang Mai with English shops in, the girls were really excited about this, obviously, and to be honest we both needed a new pair of shorts, so we decided that we would go check it out, a few of us had only had breakfast that day so we were starving. We went to the American restaurant called 'Sizzlers' which must have been the most expensive place in the whole food plaza, but it was good food and realistically it was still cheap as chips compared to home.
The main shop we all wanted to go to was 'Topshop/Topman', when we were in there it really did make us feel like we were at home. All the clothes were the same and they were all the same price. We both brought a pair of shorts each, which we could have easily have got cheaper on some sort of market but we were in Topman in Thailand so we felt like we had to. We also went halves on an electric beard trimmer as Ben has took his with him that we were using.
The mall closed at around half 8 so we headed back to the hostel, had a couple of beers in the lobby area and had another reasonably early night.
