Sunday 15 July (Oban and the Firth of Lorn)The parade of sail took place from 1030, and we joined in with about 30 boats, dressed overall, in two slow circuits of Oban Bay, led by Spray of Wight, a classic gaffer, with a piper in the pulpit. We sailed in close to the north pier where another piper played continuously. Eventually the boats split off in their various directions and the event was over. Some yachts were heading out towards Tobermory and eventually Skye for the next event. We turned south for a sail right round Kerrera. The weather was superb, but contrary to the forecast rather lacking in wind. That didn't matter, as we just enjoyed the slow, sun-drenched sail all the way round outside the island and back home to our berth. We had a final meal at the Waypoint, as David and Ian were off south by car again the next day. By now I had also shared the news that Catherine was unwell and I had decided to return home with the boys, while Nick would stay on Vega for a few more days. Not the end to the week we had expected, but we will make the best of it.
