Sunday July 1 (Dunstaffnage, Dunbeg Bay)
The day started in teeming rain, but by the time we were off it had stopped and the sun was out - Four Seasons in One Day is the theme tune for these parts evidently. We motor-sailed back down the Sound of Mull and rounded Lismore Island, Cath helming while I snoozed in the sunny cockpit. We had a good pontoon berth in Dunstaffnage marina, and had welcome showers (having declined the offer of the Youth Hostel in Tobermory). We ate at the Wide-Mouthed Frog bar/bistro/restaurant, a pleasant establishment with a super menu. Unfortunately they were having a chef crisis. We were hit by long delays and unavailabilities, and the girl in charge first said we should have our drinks on the house, and finally she let us have the entire meal for free! On the way down to the boat we stopped to admire the magical late evening light (it is barely dusk by 11pm in these latitudes), with mist lying low over the loch.
