Friday 4 May, Darthaven Marina, DartmouthWe’ve had a relaxing day in Dartmouth, starting with a ferry across from the marina (on the Kingswear side) to the town, for breakfast at the fabulous ‘Alf Resco’ café: full breakfast for £4.95, and a lovely chatty hostess who gave us extra toast ‘on the house’!  After a walk round town and showers, we had a beer at the Cherub, the amazing little pub up hundreds of steps above the town.  Over a pint of Doom Bar ale, we learned from a local that some 2000 competitors are expected at this year's Worm Charming Festival, including a strong team from New Zealand. The well known Steam Packet pub which formerly housed a good restaurant no longer does so, so we ate at Zanne’s Bistro, up the hill overlooking the marina, preceeded by a compulsory visit to the Royal Dart Yacht Club, overlooking the River Dart.
