Benjamins Round Britain Cruise
Today dawned bright and sunny, and we took the local bus across Islay to the village of Bowmore. The lads toured the distillery, while Cath went shopping (of course!). Bowmore is the only distillery here which malts its own barley, which is a very labour-intensive process, requiring 24-hour-a-day shovelling in the loft, yet the distillery is run by a staff of only 12 in all. The tour was excellent (and the whisky not bad either!). We had a superb lunch at a restaurant in the village and returned to Port Ellen.
