Today was our first day on the road - we woke up and had a chill out and sort in the morning. Finally all packed up we said goodbye and headed out on the open road. We had decided to drive a large chunk of northland in one go and mop up any sites of interest on the way back. Our first stop was a small camp site in.... Just a little south of russle. Not far after leaving Auckland te landscape changes from lovely city to amazing countryside and soon reminded us all of home - this continued to get more impressive and around every corner was another picture worthy landscape - and all this while on their motorway! We made good time and made it to the campsite just after dark, not the most helpful thing when first setting up, but we cracked on - using a large tarp, rope and pegs i made a cover over the car to make it a little more private and homely! We had a few boot organisational issues but we are going to re-sort that tomorrow, for tonight we ate some crappy noodles and watched the beginning of life of Pi. Surprisingly after we had all found our comfy spot we managed to get a decent night sleep. Car camping night one successful!
