Captains log 11/07/13 Roma! Take two. Well after a good night sleep, it was up early with the girls to try beat the queues at all of the tourist hot spots! The collosium, Roman forum, Trevi fountain, pantheon! Ok, so were up and out of our apartment by 830, and on route to the collosium, Bella and I act as suito tour guides to the girls, sharing little bits of information we have collected thought our previous trip. Again! Wow this thing is amazing, we get semi lucky and the line to get in isn't so big. We have a wonder around the beast and take a lot of selfies, Lara and her friend Alyce are always keen for selfies! After a good hour or so doing a full circle and going up the levels it's time to move on. At this point it's only 28 degrees, but Bella and I know that it can get a lot hotter at any moment. We head to the Roman forum, just a quick look around because Lara's shoe broke and walking on cobble stone paths in 1 shoe isn't an easy thing to do, but she soldiers on. We all head off to the victor Emanuel monument to go up and get city views all over Rome. This is amazing, and the city is surprising flat, kinda like Paris. This makes it wlooks so good, random ancient ruins are scatted all over the city. By this point the girls are very hot, and not enjoying being a tourist so much so we head off looking for a bite to eat and to cool down and relax. We head towards the Trevi fountain. We find the closest air conditioned restaurant near the fountain and go in for a quick bite to eat. This place looks a little fancy, nice decor, nice table set out and suited wait staff, however the prices weren't too bad, then again we were resting our feet and having a much needed drink. We had proshotto to share, Bella had truffle and mushroom lasagna, Lara had bacon and tomato pasta, Alyce had a chicken leg, and I had a clam pasta. The food was nice, all washed down with a lovely bottle of rosé. However we asked several times for chili and olive oil to the point that when it came we had almost completely finished our meals, and when it came to paying the bill, f*** me that was painful. We asked, and asked and asked. 30 minutes went by, we should have just left. Finally we got the bill, no tip for them. Shame the kitchen was well just to many s***ty suited up wait staff. We headed to the Trevi fountain for some coin throwing and a few photos, it was much busy then last time so this was done at express pace. Then after a quick ice cream stop we head to the pantheon, I no I no were giant fatties. This time we have our camera so we finally got some half decent photos of the thing. It's still amazing and still breath taking. After that was done, it was time to stop being a tourist and get our drink on. A quick cab right back to termini and then a short walk back to the hotel.... This is we're the day gets fun. Naturally 3 girls getting ready takes about 5 hours, so I caught up on some cricket listening while they fussed around doing there hairs and make ups. A quick cab ride and were back to our faved place, campo de foira, and back to sloppy Sams!! A pitcher of beer for me, and 3 cocktails for the girls. Game on! Bella and I had no trouble doing ours but soon into it the girls started struggling. Clearly 1.5l of cocktail is a tough pill to swallow. The night carried on talking and laughing, slowly getting more and more messier. A funny point was Lara and I going to the bathroom and Bella and Alyce doing 100s of selfies and trying to film the cafe strip. It was loose. Bella and I helped the girls finished there drinks, who at this point was getting messy with Bella soon to follow them! We brought some funny t shirts, and all got a free shot because of it. Ok now it's really time to go. I collect all three of them and head home bound. The cab ride was funny, with Bella trying to be like Liz and refusing to pay the poor driver even though he as perfectly right. A stop of at maccas and a walk though the dodgey areas and we were home. At this point everyone was under the weather. Bella was tossing about in bed in pain. I was doing the "fat" dance, Alyce was messaging boys back home and Lara was passed out. Good night! Tomorrows going to hurt.
