So we get to the train station in pleanty of time, only to find that our train is apparently coming at 8:05 am when its supposed to be at 11:20 pm. Very annoyed we go and ask and the guy tells us that the board is wrong, and its only 15/20 minutes late. Much happier we head to the platform and wait. And wait a bit more. and wait a bit more. After a while we decided to go and check the board again. Still it say 8:00 amm and when we ask the guy again, he says that it wont be here until the morning. We go back to tell the others the bad news, and decided its pointless to go and find a hotel, so we decide to go to the reitiring rooms. But they are already taken. So we go to the waiting room, and have to spend the night there. After the women charging us to stay, and trying to sleep on the most uncomfortable seats i've ever seen (they were even uncomfortable to sit on!!) we spent the night watching rats run around eating bits of rubbish and getting about half an hours sleep. When it finally gets to six we get up and have some tea (probably the best thing to happen to yus in the last 12 hours!!) and head to the platform. Where the board now says the train will be here at 8:15. 8:15 comes and goes and finally the board changes to 8:40. About 9:00 the board changes to 9:15. Trains keep coming into the platfor but none of them are ours. Finally, at 10:00 (TEN HOURS AND FORTY MINUTES LATE!!) our train finally arrives- but at a different platform. We are so luck that some one told us or we wouldnt have realised at all!! When we got on the train we finally got ot catch up on some sleep. When we got to Varanasi, we got a taxi to the hotel. we managed to get one room for all five of us, it was pretty clean and very cheap which was good. We went to their restaurant for dinner which was nice, but the people who worked there didnt seem to happy, and there were a ridiculous amount of bugs flying around! The next day we had a bit of a lie in, and then after breakfast went for a wonder. I dont know if its just becuase it was so hot and busy, but id say Varanasi is probably my least favourite place weve been to. We went for a walk by the Ganges, but decided to sit in some shade and play cards. After a while we headed to get some lunch and escape the heat! After lunch we went back to the hotel, as they do free boat rides. The boat ride was much better than i thought. The guy told us alot about Varanasi and the burning of bodies by the river etc. We also got to meet some other people staying at our hotel, on the boat and they were all really lovely! Back at the hotel we went for dinner and then got an auto to the train station to get our next overnight train. Thankfully it was on time and we even got some breakfast!
