So after our 6/7 hour taxi drive we finally arrived in Agra. Its pretty nice but at some point the traffic is even worse than Delhi!! We've seen a good few lorries hurtkling towards us while were stuck in a tiny Auto! The hotel here looks pretty nice from the outside , but the room itself is TINY, we can only just squeeze open the door to the box that is the bathroom!! And its my turn to sleep on the floor. I must admit though, after a few days, its not really so bad. We went to dinner once we had dumped our stuff in our rooms and luckily our hotel has a really good view of the Taj from its rooftop restaurant. The next morning we went to see a couple of sight including the baby Taj which was nice. The next day (Siriols birthday) we got up really early to go and see the Taj, i expected it to be pretty good, but it was AMAZING! It's just so well designed and so beautiful! After that we went to get some breakfast and then chilled out at the hotel. siriol wasnt feeling to great, so she stayed at the hotel while we went for lunch and to see the Agra fort which was quite interesting. They had a sort of massive stone bath in a bit of the courtyard, and as we were walking past, we heard one of those classic tourist linhes "Geez, thats one massive cup of massala tea!" Hilarious! When we got back we went to meet Si at Cafe Coffee Day (i guess the indian version of starbucks, and yes we are eating an insane amount today!!) Not very traditional but so nice to have a good cup of coffee and a chocolate brownie :) After heading back to the hotel, we went to go for a boatride to see the traj at sunset, but we managed to find a decent place to see it so skipped the boat ride. The next day we got a bus to Fatehpur Sikri, a place that wasnt lived in for very long and had to be abbandoned because of a water shortage. On our way to see the city palace, we were constantly asked it we wanted to buy postcards, have a guide, get shown directions etc (one thing i wont miss!!) but when we got there it was nice to have a look around. We then got some biscuits Fathepur Sikjri are known for, which were really good- a bit like shortbread, and after some lunch got the bus back to Agra. It was insanely boiling at this point and there was a huge amount of traffic on the way home, so we got stuck in a traffic jam, in ridiculous heat for about an hour/ an hour and a half. Not fun. When we got back we went to a nice cafe called Joney's place for dinner before heading to the train station, to get an ovenight train to Varanassi.
