Retired & Traveling
Check out time was 10:00 am, so we bade farewell to the apartment, and caught a cab to the port to board the brand new Majestic Princess. Due to my preferred status, we got checked in right away, and then were able to wait to board in the VIP lounge. :)) We were able to get on the ship around noon, and decided to eat lunch in the International Cafe. We explored the ship a little and got our table assignment for dinner worked out, the internet set up, and checked our excursion tickets. Pam and Mike were able to exchange their tickets they had for a Gibraltar trip to the same trip we had booked, so mission accomplished! Oh the errands one must run on the first day. LOL Our luggage was a little delayed in arriving for some reason, but finally showed up, and we were able to get all settled into the room. One thing we noticed right away is that our room only has one chair and the other ships have always had two. :(( The ship itself is very pretty, but it's going to be servicing the Asian countries after this summer, and the Chinese language is EVERYWHERE. It makes reading anything a bit tricky--hard to explain but trust me on it! Our muster was at 5:15 and we went straight from there to dinner--we met our waiters, Manuel and Luis. They seem like they will be very good and treat us well. Since my stuff had been packed since Tuesday (for the most part--I didn't unpack in Barcelona very much), several of my tops were very wrinkled. Pam and I went to the laundry room and did some ironing. I mainly did this to kill time and keep myself awake for the show that was beginning at 9:30 pm. Yes, I was planning to go out past my normal bedtime! :)) I'm glad I stayed up because the show was really good. The cruise director is British, as usual, and he was pretty funny. The Princess singers and dancers did a number and then a British comedian came on named John Martin. He's an older man and I laughed so hard almost the entire time--definitely worth staying up to see! This ship has the new Princess beds and I was looking forward to giving it a try. Two thumbs up, quite comfy!
