Retired & Traveling
Another beautiful day in Sunny Barcelona! We had about a 20 minute walk to the meeting place for our Segway tour this morning. The streets were practically empty since it's Easter weekend. Along the way, Pam tripped on the curb and literally slammed into a cement wall! She fell so that all her weight went against her upper arm, and I was so worried that she had broken it, but after a few minutes, she was good enough to continue on to the Segway place. Scared the doo out of all of us! We got our machines and the Honnerts got a brief lesson on how to ride and away we went. Our guide, Pablo, was very patient and knowledgeable about the city. We were the only 4 on the trip, which was very nice! We went all over the place, and saw so much in our 2+ hour ride. He gave us a recommendation for lunch and it turned out to be right across from where we were going next. The restaurant was quite different in that you walked in and chose what type of fresh seafood you wanted, how much you wanted, and how you wanted it prepared. Next was choosing your drink and sides, and then paying. They assigned you a table number and when your food was ready, they called you to come get it. Everything was really fresh and VERY reasonably priced. It was a fun experience and a tasty lunch all in one. Next up was touring one of the homes that Antonio Gaudi built in 1877. My pictures don't do it justice--suffice it to say, he certainly saw things in a different way! We had the self guided audio tour and were given a small device that looked very similar to an iPhone. When you would enter one of the rooms and press the corresponding button, the screen would activate with what the room would have looked like when the owners lived there! It was very cool. By the time we got out of the house, we were all exhausted! We were right next to a subway entrance, so we caught a ride back to the apt. After resting a bit, we ventured out to the same general area we went last night and had dinner sitting outside, enjoying the weather. We set sail tomorrow!!

Kathi Hybart Beth, you know I'm a huge Segway fan and loved seeing all the sites. So glad you've had great weather.
Lindsey Glad you're having a great time! Love all the pics- the architecture is stunning and when we finally make it to Barcelona I'm gonna need to check out that fresh fish restaurant for sure.
