Retired & Traveling
We had an early roll call today in order to meet our tour guide at Park Guell. We caught a taxi and arrived lickedty split, due to the fact that it was Good Friday and everyone was closed! Who knew 8 months ago that this was Easter weekend! We toured the park, which was just amazing. Gaudi designed it and per usual, just one of a kind. My pictures probably won't do it justice. Because it's Good Friday, the tour agency could only get tickets for our group to tour Sagrada Familia at 3:00 pm, which wasn't what we were supposed to have. Fortunately for us, I had not booked another tour for us for that afternoon, even though we should have been done at 12:30. As compensation for our inconvenience (for having to wait), the agency said we could join another tour that was doing the highlights of Barcelona tour or meet them back at 3:00. We opted to stay w them and do the tour. We got to ride in a nice coach style bus and went ALL over the city. We saw the stadium where they play football (soccer to us), and views from a mountaintop of the entire city. It's just amazing how compact it is! We got off the bus near the port and toured the old section of the city called the Gothic section. Our guide, Javier, knew of an off the wall place to eat lunch and took us there, although he called it breakfast. I had a hamburger which was NOTHING like an American one! It was good but I wouldn't order it again. We continued our walking tour and re boarded our bus, which took us to the sagrada familia church. It's still under completion and won't be ready to open until 2026! By the time our tour was over, we parted ways and headed back to our apt. Dinner was at a place a few blocks from the apt. We wandered down the street until we found a place that had an outside table and served sangria. I had two, Pam only had one--lightweight!! :)) We had pinchos, which is similar to tapas, but I'm not sure what the difference is. It was all good! We have been so lucky with the weather, highs in the upper 60's, no humidity and sunny--just perfect. Here's to hoping for more of this, especially tomorrow since we are doing a Segway tour!

Kathi Hybart All the pictures are great! I would be willing to bet that your sangria is as good if not better.
