I don't know how I stumbled on to Sacramento. I might have been that TV show Eight is Enough. I was sad to discover the house is actually in another city, can't remember which. Stayed out in Rancho Cordova and used the super efficient train to get downtown. Old Sacramento was fantastic. Most of the buildings were original. They were raised to avoid the flloding. Some were done well and others were done haphazardly. As a ocnsequence some look like reproductions and others look authentic. I am sure some were manufactured later but for the most part they were just preserved. I had an outstanding burger and garlic fries at Fannie Ann's Saloon and moved on uptown to the Capitol Museum and Legislature. This was another score. Tons of knowledgeable guides and lots of access. Apparently I just missed the big protest a few days ago. I also like to tour universityies when I travel and everybody recommended UoB since I was in town. I toured every part of the University of Beers and was lucky enough to be there for happy hour and had a full course load of local brews and some great tacos, nachos and a pesto mac and cheese. Nothing else was doing in town so I headed back to watch election results.
