Dee has a full day of hairdressing to day so Trevor took us out for the day. Dee left about 8am for her rounds.
Trevor took John and me to Arundel to look at the castle there. We enjoyed morning tea by the river before going to the castle. When we parked Trevor commented on how quiet the car park was and after paying for the parking ticket made our way to the castle. We could see some of it when we came into the town but it is hidden behind a high fence. When we arrived at the entrance we were informed that the castle is closed on Mondays hence the empty car park. Oh well maybe we could do something else.
Trevor contacted his daughter Lesley who lives just outside of Brighton and decided to visit her. She lives on an estate with a large manor that has a moat around it in Newtimber near Devils Dyke. The house she lives in is the gardener's cottage. There are many cottages on the estate that are rented out as residences or holiday lets.
We met Sebastian; Lesley's son aged 4 and went to lunch at the Royal Oak, a local pub. The bartender was from Tasmania. We then went to Devils Dyke to admire the view and enjoy an ice-cream. There were rolling hills and you could see for miles. They were even playing cricket at the base of the mountain. There was also some gypsy vans parked there. It is a popular place to go walking.
Once we took Lesley and Sebastian home we returned to Emsworth through narrow back streets in the country as the motorways were quite busy.
Dee was already home and preparing for 2 more clients. She didn't finish till about 7.30pm.This was my opportunity to catch up on the blogs before we go to the Isle of Wight tomorrow.
We are looking forward to the next 3 days away.
Happy reading xxxx
