Sorry about the delay in posting the blog. No Wi-Fi so I had to wait till it was available. Sunny morning and great for our trip to Kent where John was born and spent part of his early life. It took us 2.5 hrs. to pack the camper.
Dee did haircuts on Trevor, John and I. Dee and I bought groceries to stock camper while John and Trevor met Paul to pick up the 7 seater car.
We finally left Emsworth at 1.40pm and made the trip to Martin Hill north of Dover in Kent. We stayed on the motorway the whole way. I fell asleep part of the way so missed most of the scenery.
The campsite, Hawthorn Park is situated in the hamlet of Martin Hill. The roads are very narrow and we had to park to the side of the road to let traffic past. There are lots of rabbits feeding on the grass at the campsite. Trevor and Paul set up the tent. Trevor copped a crescent shaped cut on his forehead from the tubing that supports tent. Lucky it didn't hit his eye. It took 4 people to blow up the air bed using to electric pumps. Unfortunately one was blowing and the other was sucking and about 20 mins
For tea we met Dee and Pat's cousin at the Crispin Inn in Deal for a surprise dinner. That's the photo posted on Facebook. It was a dreadful picture and what you saw is what I started with. I may have had 3 glasses of wine in front of me but I had only had a few mouthfuls. The food there was very poor. Dee and Janet complained about it but the chef had no bar of it. The potatoes looked like they were years old and dry baked. Couldn't even cut them. The beef Wellington had 2 x 1 inch square meat in it and it cost about $20. There were no veggies with any of the meals and no option to get any. So it was a bit of a disaster!!! Cross that pub off for recommendation.
We then went to The Magnet for a drink and to watch Janet's son, Alan, singing. He is a very good singer. There was also a major boxing match being screened between Froch and Groves. It was a grudge match as the last fight had been unfairly stopped and Groves lost. So the pub was packed. We had a very late night. 11 pm.
