OVERVIEW
We took a road trip out to Pittsburgh to see Heinz field, then headed out to Cleveland to check out the Browns.. or as the locals told us .. the "Cleveland Clowns."
PITTSBURGH
We went to the Grand Concourse to eat. Loved the piano music. Loved the very-old train station setting. Its an experience and its a must see if you are in Pitt.
Things to know - Don't leave home without your GPS. Maps will do you no good in Pittsburgh.
Why? Because they randomly close roads for the fun of it. All of the time. Unless you are from Pittsburgh, I recommend leaving the mapquest directions and home and opting for some sanity on your trip. Beg, borrow or steal... just don't go without a GPS!
HEINZ FIELD www.pittsburghpanthers.com/sports/m.../pitt-m-footbl-body.html
You will not find imitation ketchup in the field! We saw the University of South Florida vs. University of Pittsburgh. Go Pitt!
OUR STAY http://www.marriott.com/hotels/travel/clesc-cleveland-marriott-downtown-at-key-center/
Cleveland Downtown Marriott at the Key Center is a beautiful hotel. We had a bunch of points, so we ended up on the top floor overlooking the city. The entire room was windows.
It was really neat, but it is just a little nerve racking to look down. I recommend not doing it!
A+ on this hotel. Plus, we could walk to the Browns game from our hotel. Sweet!!! No game day parking issues.
DINNER IN CLEVELAND hrcleveland.com/bluepoint.php
We asked around, did some good searches,.. and we found the Blue Point Grille. I was a little worried about ordering seafood in Cleveland.. we are, after all, in Ohio...
The ambiance was really nice. The staff was really professional. The food... AMAZING. Who would have though such amazing seafood and fresh seafood would be in downtown Cleveland?
If you are anywhere near there, Blue Point Grille is a must-make-reservations. You won't be disappointed!
FINAL REVIEW
I liked Cleveland.. not a fan of the Browns, but people seem really nice. We didn't stay long, but in our short stay we had a good experience.
If we go back to see any other teams play, I would be interested to see more of the city.
