OVERVIEW - DENVER, CO
We were in town for a wedding! A super fun wedding, too. We saw a very small part of Denver, and there is way more to do. We will definitely, definitely have to go back.
THE TRIP THERE
UGH! Delayed for hours. It was torture. Torture might have been preferred! The best thing was when we finally got there, Hertz gave us a this fancy red Camero. So having fun with this!
THE STAY - ELEMENT HOTEL, WESTIN
I'm loving the new Westin's! They are relaxing. The sheets, the bathrooms are super nice. The air even smells cleaner in Denver. It like standing on the top of a tall mountain. Also, all the amenities! A fridge, a stove, even a dishwasher! All the stuff I need to make a hot tea. I am in heaven!
DINNER ON WEDNESDAY
SULLIVAN'S STEAKHOUSE. The menu looks fab! And its close to the stadium, which is where we are headed next! The restaurant doesn't open until 5pm, and we get there at 4pm so we decide to hang out in the bar.
I had one drink and felt a little woozy. Maybe there is something to this whole high-altitude thing! I got the wild fire shrimp. Not bad!
5 o'clock rolls around and we move into the main dining room. Greg orders Philly cheese steak egg rolls. Its SO SICK, they are so good! The lobster is way too too much. Portions are gigantic and its just hard to cook through well when its that big. This place is pretty good for a chain!
Our waiter claims there is a Pat's cheese steak here. Is he for real? On Market Street? Really? Will have to investigate this one. Highly doubtful, but that's what he says. Oh, and I left my credit card at the bar. I'm blaming it on the altitude!
We're at the game and we are wondering why everyone is wearing Bronco's stuff? We don't wonder for long though, because it just keeps raining on us. It isn't down pouring, so most people are just shivering in their seats.
They have a stadium person throwing lollipops. I got one, woohoo! They also sang take me out to the ball game and threw cracker jack boxes from the top level. It was funny because it was pouring rain by this point and the boxes were getting wet and exploding when people would grab them! We were cracking up watching people under the overhang!
The game goes into a rain delay and we wait around for awhile, but we never did get to see the end of the game. It just rained, and rained!
THURSDAY -
JOHN HOLLY'S ASIAN BISTRO. Recommended by the Front Desk. We are trying some sushi!! And, its walking distance from the hotel. Overall, pretty decent! A little spicy.
We went here for the bachelor/bachelorette party. Its unlimited tacos and drinks. Think fish tacos, steak tacos and regular beef tacos. SO yummy! I absolutely loved the fish tacos.
The rest of the night is a on a need-to-know basis, and we'll leave it at that!
CENTRAL NAILS AND SPA
First time getting a mani/pedi! It was fun! My nails are still holding up!! We all got French mani/pedis. Very cute idea! The staff is really nice and they are super busy here!
THE CHURCH REHEARSAL
SO much traffic here! It took forever to get there! When we final got there and walked in the church it was breath-taking. It looks extremely expensive! Stain glass everywhere, its like walking into a sacred museum!
DINNER - ROMANO'S ITALIAN RESTARAUNT
Really nice setting. The food was good and everything looked beautiful!
FINAL THOUGHTS
Denver was amazingly beautiful. The wedding was held at a beautiful golf course surrounded by views of the mountains and the city. The Rocky Mountains really give Denver character. Everyone is into outdoorsy stuff - rock / mountain climbing, camping, etc. Its part of what they do!
Next time we come, I want to check out the hot springs, the Indian reservation, check out some mountain climbing and go skiing (Maybe snow tubing instead, we'll see!). Can't wait to go back!
