We arrived in Sydney early, very early but the hostel were having a dry spell and were willing to check us in early. If they hadn't I may have just cuddled up on the pavement for 3 hours. The 12 hour bus journey was horribly uncomfortable to sleep on and resulted in little sleep. Even Laura who seemingly can sleep anywhere as long as she is warm, struggled.
Our room was a typical hostel room with the usual lack of comforts, but the bed was sleepable and thats what is important when you are running on empty, as we have for so much of this trip. Our hostel the YHA Sydney Central was, as you would have guessed central to George Street. The main street which goes all the way through to the harbour. A 20 min walk or the free 555 bus if you were feeling lazy. On our trips it seems to have become the norm to do a lay of the land, today was no different. After an awesome nap (of course) we headed out. The center of Sydney is very diverse and covers shops from your local Chinese duck murderers to Louis Vuitton. If you have far to much money and are into that sort of thing.
Dinner was eaten at a michealin star Dim Sum restaurant, which despite its awards doesn't even compare to anything we ate in China or Japan in my opinion (excluding the horror stories of food in earlier posts). I have to say that if I had not met Laura my cultural palate would have been surprised by the diversity of food in the world, thankfully she forces me to Yo Sushi regularly.
Not an exciting day, but some days we prefer to ignore the busy, busy schedule and relax a bit more and there is no better place to do that than Sydney.
