Being close to Laura's birthday and with little free time, I arranged to spend a portion of the day securing her presents.Despite some mild protests about not needing a present and knowing I would be in trouble if I actually did this I went to paddy's market. It may seem a bit low brow to purchase a gift from the market but I'm a backpacker and poor, as the saying goes when in Rome......
Despite being off my lead for the day I was unable to find a present, it appears the daily selection of stalls changes and the owner had moved on. Leaving empty handed and being close to lunch time I decided to hunt and gather food from Subway. Laura is a bit of a reverse Gismo from gremlins and requires feeding 3 square meals a day or she becomes grumpy. So thinking my grand gesture may win me some brownie points I headed back. Well it did not, apparently I had not heard/ignored her when she suggested I bring Subway back before I left, well great minds think alike I guess.
After lunch Laura and I walked to Darling harbour, Sydney habours lesser known twin to visit the Sea Life Aquarium. Seeing a platypus for the first pool was a great experience, hampered slightly by the ever present Chinese tourists putting cameras in front of me. Tending to take a lot of photos myself I do not take well to someone ruining my shot! Other highlights included the walking tubes to see all the fish/sharks underwater including the huge sea cows (Dugong).
Another tiring day in Sydney.
