It's Dins last day today! We went to have a goodbye lunch at Linksys! He is so funny I'm going to miss him! On the plus side Becca and Charlotte are arriving today!!!! Yey!
Din told some more stories about people in the last week being stabbed and shot dead for there iPhones and iPads in Phnom Penh! We survived it!!!
Said goodbye to Din, went to pack our rucksacks as we are checking out of the guest house we are in and into the one Din was in as it's nicer! The lady charged us for 4 nights and tried to get away with it until we insisted she give us our money back! She is still cute but I'm not giving the lady my money!
Checked into Dins guest house, it's the same price but we get aircon and it's bigger, we don't use the aircon though. I think we broke it to be fair! Oops!!!!!
Went to 'Bobby Brewers' across the road and got a hazelnut iced coffee. It was the best iced coffee ever! We both ordered large which cost 70000 dong (£2) so expensive but it was bigger then Michael's head and that's saying something!!!
Decided to go and see some sights today, we walked to the Central Market, all over the outside of the entrances are massive poster telling you to keep your belongings safe, hidden, don't fall for scams and don't get in fights. Nice welcoming. As soon as we walked in I knew why, women were pulling me limb from limb in every direction! I swear to god I lost a finger!
It was very full on! Michael bought two pairs of boxers for £7! He did haggle from £10 though! I bought a dress for £8! The market was huge! It was pure kayos!
After this we walked to the Reunification Palace but it was closed so we will come another day.
We then walked to the War Remnants Museum, it cost 15000 dong (45p) for a ticket but it's not for the faint hearted! The museum had 3 levels of posters, pictures and information posters. It showed so many victims of the war. American soldiers throwing around corpses, children crying, people being murdered and a lot about the photographers who risked there lives to take the photos.
Right, believe me I know I sound stupid but I have no idea what happened in the Vietnamese war, we have been to countless museums about it but they only explain about one or two people and I think it's biased. I tried researching 'Vietnamese war for dummies' but there is nothing about it? All I want to know is when it started, finished, who was involved (I think Vietnam France and America) why it happened, who won and like basic stuff. I know not one of my friends at home will have a clue but I'm actually in Vietnam I think it's a must! A lot of other travellers don't have a clue either.
Walked past a shrine in the middle of a roundabout that's the shape of a lily pad. It was pretty but we couldn't get close to it without being killed on the Vietnam roads!
My navigation skills are atrocious, seriously, we get tourist maps of every city we go to but the Saigon map isn't very good. Michael thinks he is some kind of expert of navigation and most of the time we get to the places but we were searching for about 2 hours.
We stumbled across an inside market which we shopped in! I bought a beaut dress for 100000 dong (£3), Michael went to buy a tshirt which cost £8 but he gave the women a 500 instead of a 50 and ended up paying £28! He only realised once we had left though!
Finally found Norte Dam which is in the centre of the government quarter. It's a huge red church! It wasn't open though so we couldn't go inside! Nothing is open it's annoying! We will come again another day!
Went back to the room, got ready then went out to meet Becca and Charlotte who had just arrived today from Nha Trang at 9.30.
They had there camera, phones and money stolen in Nha Trang after we left so we needed to cheer them up and it was our last night together as they leave for Cambodia tomorrow! :((((((
So sat at the drinking stalls, I have missed them the last couple of days it's weird not seeing them! Caught up on everything and had a few drinks!
An Asian guy came up to us asking if he could take picture of us, we get this all the time as they like our white skin but this was different, he wanted us to be in his video he was going to put on his technology software website! Strange. Anyway it would be rude not to! We all said 'Hey Tiun, love you Darl mwah' which he loved!!!! We ended up spending the whole night with Tiun and his friend who I can only describe as a nerd!
We all got a taxi to 61, at one point I turned around and Michael and Charlotte had opened this guys golf umbrella in the back of the taxi! He wasn't impressed but it made for good photos! Haha oh how he hates the English!
Got to 61 club, the guy who greets you and takes you to your table linked my arm! Very posh I could get used to this! Usually when we go to clubs I am the only girl or there is about 5 girls so bringing Becca and Charlotte was a bonus!! We were the only Caucasian as well which we are used to!
We got a free fruit platter, I'm telling you it's mega posh you don't get this in Hull! All the Asians loved us! It was such a laugh! Becca and Charlotte are as crazy as us!
I wouldn't usually write about going to the toilet but it was lush!!!!!!! You have a toilet attendant that escorts you in, free make up, curlers, straighteners, perfume and all sorts! We offered money but she didn't want any! In London there is black women in the toilets that do this and apparently they sing to you so me and Becca tried to teach her the 'no spray no lay' song!
Me and Becca got invited to a table where you play rock paper scissors to decide who does the shot of vodka, I was hopeless! Haha
There is huge poles in the middle of the dance floor and Michael trying to climb them was hilarious! The Asians here are crazy! There was a lot of money boys though, if you know what I mean.
We all went out to the chill out area, got told off for going to near the shrine so we all bowed down to it! The bounces had there work cut out!
The manager came up to me and Michael and said if we return we could get 20% discount as we 'work the crowd and make everyone enjoy the night' DONE! SOLD!! Even the regulars don't get it! Ha
We all got a taxi at 3 back to our street, walked to Crazy Buffalo on the corner to order food, Becca mixed mayonnaise with ketchup! This is surely wrong on so many levels??? We ended up having a salt fight as well as doing some sick things to the grass in the plant pot!!
This 17 year old boy who tells me he works on the streets since he was 4 talks to me every night, he is a right laugh, I never buy anything from him though!
Went inside Crazy Buffalo and we all danced around the pool table, met a little gangster who was 5 years old! I wish I had a photo of him, he wore a black hat and a yellow basket ball set, he danced like Michael Jackson and had perfect English! Didn't buy anything from him either!
At about 5 ish it was time to say goodbye to Becca and Charlotte! We are going to miss these girls a lot!! They got in the taxi and we ran along side it until it faded into the distance!!! :(((
