Had breakfast in the guest house at 10. Found out that all food here is crap!
Went back to the room to look at booking a flight from Vietnam to Malaysia , we have said we will do it for 3 weeks now and still havnt! So today is the day! Found a flight with air Asia for $89 which is really good and the rest are double that price!
Packed and checked out at 12, went to book the flight on the computers downstairs but couldn't remember our card details and are mothers were asleep so we will have to wait till another day. Ohwellllll haha
Tried to book a bus from Hoi An to Nha Trang but the receptionist said as we are booking it on the same day and have pre paid open bus tickets we had to go into the bus station to book it. So we got a taxi there. Our receptionist told us we had to shout at the people there or we wouldn't get a bus.
Got there and he was right. I know we shouldn't shout at these people as they are just doing there job but I was not leaving until I had booked a bus for that day. We have pre paid tickets and they don't like to let you on the bus they would rather someone else pay and get the seat.
Michael just sat there do it was me against an Asian man and woman! Seriously though, they put up a fight for 20 minutes of my precious time until they let us on the bus. Ridiculous! I don't care how bad this sounds.
Went to a cafe and ordered fish in a banana leaf as its nice to try new things! He told me its fish from the river down the road! I don't know if I believe him though. I'm such a pro using chop sticks now!
Went to the stall where they sell tickets to see the sights. It cost 90000 dong (£2.70) to see 5 sights out of 18 and you pick the ones you want as you go along!
Old House of Duc An was the first sight we saw, they gave us a cup of traditional tea and spoke to us about the house. The house is 200 years old and has had 8 generations living in it. The wooden pillars have Chinese symbols on and if you look closer they are made from lots of little pictures of fish made from mother of pearl.
Old House of Tan Ky was the second one we chose. There was no signs in English and when I asked he said the English signs were arriving tomorrow! What use it that to me! I reckon he says this every day though! He told us the families still live in the house but let tourists come and see as they get commission.
Walked to the Japanese Covered Bridge. We didn't have to get our tickets stamped for this as we didn't want to walk across, it's only about 20 metres along and it's prettier from the outside! It was built in the former Japanese quarter in early 17th century. It's a unique and beloved symbol of Hoi An people.
Bumped into Charlotte and Becca who we met in the travel agents in Da Nang, they were getting on the same bus to Nha Trang as us that night! They are so funny!
We then went to the central market, I bought some traveller bracelets, I have like 26 now and I'm running out of arm! In Vietnam they have your birth year animals and if you wear the symbol on you it brings you good luck. Mine is a monkey (which Michael said suited me) and Michael's is a goat! Haha so we bought pendants with them on, we chose ones with a different sign on the back which keeps evil spirits away. It looks like the dama initiative sign from Lost.
Museum of folk culture was near the market so we went there. It had strange scary mannequins everywhere! We saw how people lived, made cloth, ate and hunted.
Phuc Kien Assembly Hall (pronounce f***ing) Was next, it was a temple. It had huge incense sticks hanging from the roof that were spirals and must have lasted for weeks!! Watched people praying.
Museum of Trade Ceramics was the last one we visited and was a bad choice, the guy in the old house recommended it. I have never been so bored in my entire life. Non of it was in English and nobody spoke English! So just bits of broken pots and vases. This is not worth the 54p I paid to see this! My granny has nicer pottery in her house man! She should start charging! Aww I miss you granny Freda!
After seeing Hoi An in 2 hours at record speed we walked 382 miles back to the guest house.
They organised a transfer bus to take us to the coach at 5. Met Charlotte and Becca and got on the coach, it actually set off straight away which never happens because they usually mess around for an hour!
This night bus is actually the most disgusting contraption I have ever been on. Usually the buses are clean but like well used but this one was just dirty! We literally all hated it! There was black slime next to my bed, rubbish from the night before on my bed, the cover had bugs in, the air con and lights were broken, the beds had holes in and Michael's top part had come away and our friend Natalie saw a cockroach! Kill me.
We stopped off at a food stall and Charlotte and Becca had rice with rat! Haha it could have been dog though so not that bad!!!
