Bilbao isn't really a tourist town, its more of an industrial city. The next morning we were 'helped' by a local who took us, and herself, on the wrong Metro so we had to backtrack a little. The Guggenheim Museum was really cool once we found it; we all got the virtual tour guide devices to explain the exhibits. I think the coolest one was from the Chinese man who designed the pyrotechnics for the Beijing Olympics. There was a room dedicated to the 29 footprints that 'walked' across the sky to the opening ceremony, representing the 29th Olympiad. He does a lot of gun powder paintings too, which are really cool to see, plus there were videos of him making them. The top floor was Chinese cartoons which don't appeal to us at all, so we left. We didn't have much time anyway, our train left at 2 and we COULD NOT MISS IT, and we didn't have the best track record… After the Guggen we went to the Pais Vasco history museum, which was neat but I was hoping for more of the political history than just the societal history of the first fisherman. We made it back to train station no problem and back to Salamanca. We were all pretty tired by this point, so we just ate in the bus station.
We almost didn't make it home! It was 9:30 and our bus was supposed to leave from platform 10 at 9:30 and there was no bus in sight and a bunch of people waiting. I, being the impatient person that I am, wandered down the station for some reason and saw our bus to Caceres at a different platform about to leave, so I yelled to the others and we all made it, but we were about a minute away from spending the night in Salamanca. Don't know why I walked that way, but I'm glad I did! We got home around 12:30, luckily we all only had 1 class on Monday haha gotta love Spain. We tried to go to a convent where they sell sweets after class, since we usually can't make it in the morning but I guess the nuns take an even earlier siesta than the rest of Spain and it was already closed. That's the plan for Friday now.
