We got to the train station no problem and were in Amsterdam by noon. The first thing I noticed, besides the smell of marijuana, was that they had more bikes than people! There were bikes everywhere—chained to bridges, trees, other bikes—it was awesome. We wandered through the streets that morning, found our hostel and then went back to wandering. We didn't go to the red light district real late, but it was late enough. Everything you hear about the Red Light District is true, and that's all I have to say about that.
We bought tickets to the Anne Frank house online so we bypassed the huge line and went in the VIP side entrance. That place is unbelievable; its exactly the way Otto Frank found it after the war… it was stuffy and dark in the middle of the day, I can't imagine what it was like living there for 3 years. The most amazing part was that Otto's secretary Miep was able to find food for two whole families every day, without anyone finding out or questioning her. Amazing.
After a … restful and uneventful night in Amsterdam, we took the tram out to the Airport and flew to London!
