Venice! We got to the island about 10 am, to the only place where there is car traffic in the entire city! After being in Rome it was a relief to not have to dodge taxis and mopeds constantly. We spent the morning wandering along the alleys and canals, following a guide book to some important palaces and places, like the Jewish ghetto. What a night! We went out to dinner with our friends from the hostel, then to Gelato (again) and by that time it was about 1 am. We hadn't booked a hostel because we had to leave at 4 am, but didn't really have a plan as to what we were going to do. We went back to the hostel to get our packs, thinking we'd walk to the vatican and the monuments to see them at night. But...our beds in the hostel were still empty so we just slept there and snuck out in the morn...

Just got in to Rome, but back to the ghost tour- a cloaked woman took us through the old town, and then down to the crypts below the street where the poor people lived. I unfortunately didn't have any 'seeing experiences' but it was fun, and she was a great story teller. The weather changed to rain and cold so it was a perfect atmoshpere for story telling. On the tour with me was a group of 5 British Airways flight attendants, so the 6 of us had a great time. ...
