We went to the Montreal convention centre, or Palais des congres de Montreal today, which was worth going to see- the front of the building is made up of panels of coloured glass which look lovely from the inside as well as the outside. Inside the building they had a Christmas market which had been set up as a fundraiser for children from disadvantaged communities in Montreal and was in association with the ballet, and the show The Nutracker or Casse Noisette. We had to pay to go into the market but the money is going towards being able to send these children on artistic and educational workshops and also so they can all go and see the Nutcracker show.
It was well worth it, it was a lovely market and we got to try lots of nice things including chocolates and coffee made with lavender, and savoury shortbread! There was a stilton one and a garlic one. They were really nice flavour wise but it`s a shortbread biscuit so the consistency and flavour combo was a bit odd! We also tried white chocolate covered popcorn which was a novelty. Again, different but very nice.
There was lots there including crafts and toys, books and jewellery, wine and jams, soaps and clothing and much more.
I treated myself to a nice bar of white chocolate praline :)
It was cold out today but definitely not minus 8! I was really surprised because back home it is supposed to be minus 6 tomorrow!! I don`t think I`ve ever experienced that before- back home or here!
