Today we had a little wander around some of the streets, not going anywhere in particular, just walking around to see what was about. We then jumped on the metro heading to Parc Jean-Drapeau which is located on the island Ile Saint-Helene. I think there were a couple of things to see but it didn't look like anything was open, the park was incredibly quiet. We went to see the St.Lawrence River. It was nice and peaceful and the sun was shining.
After this we decided to take a look at Montreal's underground city- well some of it anyway! It was built as a defence against 5-6 months of ice and snow, and also against the stifling summer heat and is a 'labyrinth of shops, cinemas, nightclubs, restaurants and cafes'. It stretches 18 miles across the city linked by the metro.
I think tomorrow we are going to check out Old Montreal and the Basilique de Notre Dame.
