We had nice lie in and headed out around 1pm. We came across the Cathedral- Basilica Mary Queen of the World and St.James the Greater. Or, Basilique-Cathedrale Marie-Reine-du-Monde et Saint-Jacques-le-Majeur! (I'm still in awe when we're out and I hear people switch from perfect English to perfect French).
The cathedral was actually modelled after St.Peter's Basilica in Rome, but on a much smaller scale and was constructed between 1870-1894. They even have inside a replica of the Baldachin (the original in Rome having been created by Bernini). It is a lovely building both on the outside and on the inside, however once you've actually been to Rome and stepped inside St.Peter's Basilica you will know that nothing compares to it's beauty and grandeur!
We had a little walk around Saint.Catherine's street which has some lovely shops along it, and is located really close to the hostel. We're now armed with maps so we're going to see what there is to see and do!
