So an early morning (much delayed) flight from Cartagena brought me to Bogota. After the crazy, wet heat of the north it is really chilly here. Looked a bit silly in my flip flops!
Bogota traffic is something else. Felt like I was in Bangkok. Oh & the street numbering in bizarre. You think it will be easy as there are calles with numbers running east to west & carreras running north to east. However many have been renumbered, old just being slashed through with red paint & new numbers written in a completely different part of the street. Por ejample, calle 13 has moved 2 blocks & 12 A & 12 B have been inserted. My rough guide has the old numbering!
After chucking my stuff in Lima Limon Hostel in Candelaria, wandered out into the pouring rain to hit the two best museums in Bogota.
First. Museo del Oro. Amazing collection of pieces of gold but don't think it was worth the extra 6,000 pesos for the audioguide. After a total of over 6 months steeped in pre-columbian history am now at saturation point. If I see another pre-hispanic artefacts I might faint! Def time to move on with my travels.
Here are my selection of awesome magnets as managed to take my camera but forgot to put the battery back after charging it! Duh!!
