Ami's Latin American Walkabout
Stopping off in Cerro Allegre for an alfajore. Traditionally an Argentinian treat but, like with Pisco, the Chileans have adopted it. It is two biscuits joined together with a filling & covered in chocolate. This one was filled with delish dulce de leche.
Our hostel is also on Cerro Allegre. The name translates into Merry Hill as it was traditionally the location of brothels & drinking dens frequented by the English sailors. Amusingly our hostel in Santiago is located in the same road as most of the city's "gentlemans'" clubs.
