I left Penang VERY early last Thursday to get the ferry to the island of Langkawi. I had wanted about 4 days here, but due to the amount of places I want to get to I planned to only stay 2 or 3 days.......however, over a week later I'm still here.

I spent the first couple of days going around the island with a guy I'd met in Kuala Lumpar, so was nice to meet up with a familiar face. We rented scooters for a day, which turned out to be one of the rainiest days we could have chosen, to the extent that there was too much rain to see when driving. We got a cable car up one side of the island and got some pretty awesome views from there. Went to see a waterfull but ended up on a beach. It was nice though, and very quiet. Also went up to the island peak but unfortunately we ended up right in the clouds at the top, but got some good views slightly lower down.

I spent a bit of time on the beach (which is less than a minutes walk from my hostel) and ended up with a job offer from one of the watersports companies. This really didn't fit my plan but ended up taking it.

So I'm now staying here pretty indefinately as I don't know where to go next. It's such an easy life here though that I've settled in probably a little bit too well. Each day I get a lie in and get to turn up to 'work' when I'm ready. A typical day involves me lying on the beach, going for a swim, practicing poi and playing on the boat and jetskis. I'm now on my way to looking like a local in terms of my skin colour and am earning just enough to keep me ticking over.

As it stands I will probably stay till the new year and then make my way up to Thailand, but I no longer plan anything and so do what I want, when I want to.

Christmas here was pretty fun and chilled out, though Christmas eve was actually the bigger night. We had a big party on the beach, and it will probably be very similar for New Years Eve.
