I left Langkawi in a bit or a whirlwind as I went much sooner than I had planned or expected to. So I ended up travelling with 2 others up to Ko Pha-ngan. It was a mission of a journey but so worth it in the end.

We had to catch a ferry at 8am to Satun. Then get a bus to Hat Yai, another bus to Surat Thani, a taxi to the port and then a night boat over to the island. As we got the last boat that would be there in time for new years eve it was absolutely packed and we ended up down in the luggage storage on a very solid, uncomfortable floor. It was very noisy and a disturbed night, but all the same...fun!

Very fortunately managed to find accommodation on the island as pretty much everywhere had been booked way in advance for new years. However, we ended up with an amazing little room for the 3 of us, in a sort of guesthouse, though our room was actually just in the shop, a room that is normally their TV room.

Had a very fun new years eve, and a very lazy new years day. It was actually James' birthday on the 2nd so we had planned another celebration then, but he got food poisoning and so I ended up spending the night in a thai hospital with him.

Left Ko Pha-ngan on another night ferry but actually got a mattress this time, though the sea was alot more choppy this time. From Surat Thani I had to then get a minibus and then another bus to get me back over to the west coast, to the town of Krabi where I am now.
