So on Friday we had to pack up our bags and unfortunately say goodbye to our little apartment in brick lane. We had to lug our back packs to our new hostel in shore ditch. It was only a 5 minute walk to the dictionary hostel, thank god. I have to say we made quite of an entrance, as Molly couldn't balance properly with her heavy pack on and was clumsily stumbling side to side in reception. Not to mention when Beks shoe got caught on the complimentary drink bucket for new people, and the ciders, beers and blocks of ice tipped onto the floor. Aside from that, our 16 bunk bed room hostel is pretty interesting. It's slightly like being on school camp except everyone is basically a random and are all different nationalities. We've met two guys from the Netherlands, Manwell and another guy I have no clue what his name is. An Italian called Franceso and also an awesome American girl. Every one staying in the hostel seems pretty friendly . We decided to hit the shops on Friday in Oxford street. Molly and I kept passing all the streets we knew from monopoly, it was so weird. All the shops are massive and have so much variety especially in top man. After a long day of walking around and 30 degree heat, we stopped by tescos to buy some snacks and dinner. They have a big kitchen at the hostel that includes two fridges. They are so packed that to store your food you literally have to wedge your food or container into a spare nook or cranny with it labelled. Bek had to learn the hard way as her cous cous got stolen that was supposed to be her lunch for the next day , it was funny. Friday night we chilled out at the bar joined to out hostel. I bought a refreshing cider that came in a massive fish bowl glass. The sizes of drinks are odd here because when we get coffee it's always one size (usually large). The people at out bar were a bit older but we chatted to a few people and then hit the hay.
So to cap off Saturday we travelled around London to the London tower bridge, London eye and also did a Camden pub crawl at night . The London Tower bridge was difficult to get to as we're still getting our bearings around London. We ended up over shooting the stop and having to get off and jump back on the same bus going back the other way. After arriving we got to go up to the viewing part of the bride where you could overlook the river Thames and both sides of London. It was so picturesque. Of course our poor time management meant we didn't have enough time to visit the London eye so we had to change the date to Tuesday. We rushed home, ate dinner and headed to Camden for the pub crawl. There were 40 crawlers and the company we did it with we're awesome. Every club and bar we got free entry an a free shot. We met a group of American guys who we taught to juicy wiggle and dance like people do in Melbourne. It was cool to meet new people and listen to the live bands and music at the venues. We got home around 3am from the double decker bus sand it was surely memorable first night out. My thumbs are throbbing from using my phone for this so I will continue blogging tomorrow. Xoxo Alice
