"What makes a good man turn neutral, lust for gold? Power? Or were you just born with a heart full of neutrality?" Zapp Branigan. As you might have guessed from that quote we are in Switzerland. Leaving Austria wasn't easy but the bus keeps rolling on. This morning we explored Innsbruck (read: went to the Swarovski flagship store) and if I see another crystal in the next month I'm going to lose it. Some of the blokes on the tour have described it as a shopping tour interrupted by some churches and they aren't far wrong. We are waiting to do something the men wanna do as we have passed countless football stadiums, war museums, plane museums and beer halls yet we have not stopped at one, yet I there is even a hint of a shop we will stop. Rant over. Innsbruck is a picturesque town and we saw all the attractions in about a minute as the golden roof and cathedral are not far apart. We then got a few hours on the bus for me to catch up on "The Rub" podcasts (Triple M's footy preview show for the uninitiated) on out way to Liechtenstein. Liechtenstein was a nice lunch stop and not much more, all there is to see is the castle (you can't not see the castle from anywhere in town) and see corporation headquarters for a bunch of companies you've never heard of. Pretty scenery though. We arrived in Lucerne around four o'clock and immediately went straight to the lion monument. This is a very moving sculpture cut into a sandstone cliff to commemorate the deaths of 750 Swiss Guards while trying to protect King Louis XVI and Marie Antoinette during the French Revolution. We then went to our hotel where they gave us a card for a free souvenir at the local department store. We went and collected the souvenir (after pushing through the sea of Asians looking and ridiculously priced watches) and little did we know it would be a Rolex......
Spoon. Still very cool though. We also bought a cuckoo clock (that doesn't have a cuckoo in it). We are off to Mount Titlis to play in the snow tomorrow which should be good
