The weather here is absolutely freezing!! I thought it was cold last weekend when it hit -20 celcius, but tonight it is scheduled to hit -26 celcius. Its getting to thermal underwear, 6 layers, artic coats and spending as little time outside as possible! It is a good excuse to just stay in bed.
So last week I was absolutely physically and mentally exhausted from New Orleans. so nothing much exciting happened.
I am taking 4 classes this semester Adoption law, trial advocacy, dispute resolution and when justice fails. Adoption law is really interesting, and a lot of what we do is think about the ethical issues regarding adoption. Trial advocacy is learning court room skills, how to cross examine a witness etc. Dispute resolution is an overview of negotiation, mediation and arbitration and involved learning the practical skills as well. When Justice fails is a course on how the legal system has failed in past cases - it involves cases in the US and also looks at some of the Nazi cases. Its going to be a really interesting semester.
We did venture out of our apartment last week for the DePaul Demons basketball. It was absolutely freezing as we waited for the free bus from the apartment to the stadium. It was a big yellow school bus, which was as exciting as anything else that day!! It was such a fun afternoon. We were sitting in the student section which was court side with the band and all the other DePaul students so there was a great atmosphere. They had both cheerleaders and dancers who were tiny and amazing! The team are apparently very good, but for most of the first half they were trailing about 5-7 points. But at the end of the second half things got really exciting as it got so close and then eventually they passed them and won! It was so very exciting and I actually understood what was going on this time.
This week has been hectic again as I have classes only Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday it is all crammed into 3 days.
