well its been a quiet week recovering from Washington. However I did make it to the legal clinic at the homeless shelter which was another eye opening experience. I felt much more confident this time, and felt much more useful and was even given a small task to do some research. It is hard to see people brought so low, some through no fault of there own, some through medical bills, some because they closed the psychiatric hospitals in the 1980's and some because they just have nowhere and noone else to turn to. It has shown me more of the realities of the US.
Aside from that one of my room mates has moved out because she has decided that law is not for her, and so we are waiting to hear if and when we get a new room mate. The only qualifications are that she is female and she is from DePaul.
I also just found out today that I have been accepted onto the New Orleans service immersion trip in january so I am very excited and eager to learn as much as I can before I go.
We have exams in 4 weeks so there is not much else happening aside from studying. The city is being decorated for Christmas at the minute, which is a little un nerving as it seems far too early. Thanksgiving is next weekend and I am going to Wisconsin with Kate my next door neighbour which I am really looking forward to.
I have also selected my subjects for next semester selecting trial advocacy, dispute resolutions, adoption law and when justice fails. Hopefully they will be interesting, but they also give me a lot of free time as I will only have lectures Monday evening, Tuesday evening and wednesday afternoon and evening.
hope all is well at home, keep in touch!
