Day 1: Wednesday 26th Dec
Woke up full of excitment, first one awake again ha! Had a quick shower, had some breaky and then got ready to head for Paris:))
Left the house at 8.50 and it was going to take us about 5 hours. We drove for a bit over four hours, I watched two movies on the iPad and slept for a bit and a bit after 1 o'clock we arrived in Versailles. Here we visited the famous 'Chateau de Versailles' of King Louis the 14th. Was sooo jealous, we wandered around the huge garden where I easily blended in with the Asian tourists as I took that many photos!
We all found a free bench where we ate our ham and cheese baguettes that Maryse made us that morning and then all of us but Hervé went for a visit inside the castle. Was massive! And so beautiful :))
Back to the car, next stop PARIS! Well, our hotel and THEN Paris:)
Didn't take long at all to get there, dropped our bags off, checked out out cute little rooms and then back in the car for 20km to Paris!
We drove around until we found the 'P' for parking sign (caught my first glimpse of the Eiffel Tower, oh my god!) and then walked to the Sacre Coeur of Montemarte. Was soooooo beautiful inside and out! There was even a priest and nuns in their doing their thing! You couldn't take photos of the inside but that's probs a good thing cause the pics would not have done it justice!!
We then looked in a few markets and then it started raining, so we went and found the car again. Drove around for a while to view the beautiful Christmas lights around the city and saw some famous sites while we were at it! Drove past the Moulin Rouge which was really cool to see! Drove all the way down the Champs-Élysées and then around the Arc de Triumphe. Was so so excited!! But then my fav moment of today.... driving right infront of the Eiffel Tower at exactly 9pm when more lights turn on for 5 minutes. It was simply magical! Took my breathe away and I only saw it from the car! Was so amazing, words cannot describe!! Could not wipe the huge smile off my face! :D
So it was now about 9.25 and we were all starving for some dinner. Headed back to where we were staying and stopped at the 'Buffalo Grill' for dinner:) was quite nice!!
Returned home and discussed plans for day 2, morning 1 in Paris. Breaky at 7.45 to be at the LOUVRE by 8.30/9! So excited to say hi to old mate Mona!!
Bed time now, keen as a been for the days to come in this magical city :D
