We arrived in Tetouan and had to walk up lots of stps to our pension. Beautiful scenery as the place is surrounded by the rift mountains. The pension we chose was cheap and seemed a nice family running it until later when we found they like to have shouting matches late at night. That evening we had a walk around the streets that were crazy full, it seemed like everyone who lived there were out on the streets in search of last minute bargins for the festival of Eid beginning the next day. A bit like christmas back home everything will be closed for a day so mass panic! We battled through the steets and had a look at the old medina but could not see a great deal due to the crowds. We saw a very nice old palace the only place where we could leave the crowds behind. Aaron decided he needed some new pants due to a pant thief stealing his unfortunately when we got home he tried them on and apart from them being on the small side they also ripped on each seam. Pantless again!
Next morning headed for a taxi to Cueta (Spain) as did not feel like staying around for the mass slaughter of sheep for the festival. In our book it describes as though the streets are flowing with blood. Along the way to the border locals could be seen walking the streets with there knifes sharpened and ready. We arrived at the border early got our passports stamped and into Spain. Long walk with our bags to the town as no bank machines so no Euros for the bus. Finding some where to stay was a pain seems Spaniards come here for weekends so cheap options full ended up in a hotel so decided just to stay a night instead of two. Not the weather for the beach so had a wander around the streets. We visited the walls first, nice views and the sea flowed through cutting the fort in two. Met a fisherman eager to show us his catch of octupus. In the afternoon we went to a tapas bar for lunch. Had a few glasses of wine and some good Tapas, when it came to paying the bill Aaron demanded he should be paying more until he was informed with each drink you get Tapas. After another walk around town and some nice buildings around Plaza Africa and a museum we went back to the Tapas bar and settled in for he evening. We both decided we like the tapas way of life.
Next morning we awoke to more rain so we headed back to Morocco and the friendly pension, no shouting matches tonight.
