On the way to Azrou we passed by Ifrane which looked just like a bit of switzland. It was built from nothing in the 1930s by the French as a ski resort. Original plan we were going to stop here but it is very expensive so we made do driving through. Azrou was probably just as surrouned by pine forested mountians.

The first day was a sunny one so we headed up into the pine forest. On the way was a yet to be completed mock castle complex being built for Middle East tourists. It was grotesque it is size and setting but probably no worse than Alton Towers or Diseny Land. The walk up into the cedar forest once leaving the main road was a pleasent one. On the top we saw lots of Barbary Apes around the picnic areas I am sure eating left over food not a good thing but still good to see the Apes. We had a short walk around the top and then back down. Back in the hotel Keeley was not feeling well so skipped dinner and had medicine from the pharmacy instead.

Next day Keeley still not to well but decided to push on to Midelt still in the Atlas mountains. The hotel we stayed at was very nice and owned by a sweet old guy who kept giving us tea and speaking away french unconcerned that we understood very little. Next day we went for a walk to a small village called Berrem. The villages we passed through were on the whole pretty mudbrick affairs. We saw a very big ruined Kasbah on top of a hill infront of a small village that I thought might of been Berrem, it was not. Further down the road we walked straigh through Berrem before turning round and eventually finding the village. It was worth the walk a beautiful mud brick village set on the edge of a river with an equally beautiful gorge behind. Sun shining but still a little cold desert tomorrow and maybe more warmth.
