We're in Botswana
The last couple of days have been a lot of travelling. The 30th was Hazyview, past Polokwane( Pietersburg), and across into Botswana. A quick overnight in Sherwood, and we arrived in Nata, Botswana, at a site called Elephant Sands.
And not without reason. The place is essentially a camp site around a waterhole. At this time of year, the waterhole is dry. This year, the rains have been late coming in, leaving some anxious elephants. So, they've drunk the swimming pool dry. They then dug it up, in case there was any water underneath.
Failing that, they moved on and demolished a wooden toilet block, and drunk the drains dry!
The adventure continued overnight. While standing in the shower of the brick toilet block, you could look over the wall, straight at Nelly, who was only 10feet away.
But that's nothing. In the middle of the night, Jacklyn woke me to show me an elephant standing directly in front of our tent, not 6 feet away!!
I had to better her, and show her the big bull standing to my left, no more than 2 feet away! No word of a lie!
AWESOME!!
