First big day on tour, and we start at 5.30am, in order to be at Kruger Park by 6.30.
Just as well! Within minutes of entering the park, we've already spotted lions chilling under a tree after a big feed. The day only gets better, and before lunch, we've seen the big five: Lion, Buffalo, Rhino (white), Leopard and Elephant, together with countless giraffe and impala. As the day progress, we see the Big 5 again. Same animals, just different individuals. I should note at this point, that you have a 10% chance of spotting leopard in the Kruger Park. Spotting two in one day is virtually unheard off!
Honestly, the best game spotting I've ever seen. It seems that because it's still fairly cool in the morning, animals come through to the tarmac roads as it's warmer.
That evening, we had a 'cultural evening' back at camp. This involved drinking the local brew, made from maize and sorgham. Tastes great...honest! And sure has a kick. We also had Tswana dancers, and traditional starters: chicken livers, mielie meal, mopane worms, and 'walk and talk'. Walk and talk is chicken heads and feet. Not as bad as it sounds. The toe nails come in handy as tooth picks!!
