Days like this are the reason you travel. You get to experience things that normally people only dream of. You are inspired, amazed, excited and in awe of everything around you. Its like your a child and your experiencing everything for the first time again. Today we spent a whole day with these amazing mammals called elephants. We chose our package carefully making sure the environment that the elephants were in was safe and free. It was a long bumpy ride to the top of a mountain where there was lots of space and plenty of fresh air. The camp was open and the elephants were roaming free. There was also a waterfall and plenty of water for the elephants to bathe in. Firstly we robed up in red cloth tops and blue cloth bottoms so everybody looked the same. This tells the elephants we are their friends. Throughout the day we got up close and personal with the elephants, riding them and directing them by learning there language, feeding them and washing them, getting kisses from them and being squirted by them whilst constantly telling them I love you! You can't believe the size and pure power of them but they are so soft and gentle. As a group we all bonded throughout the day and shared some amazing experiences. We met a happy chatty American couple and a German family who we shared all our traveling stories with. At the end we all jumped in the water and relaxed under the waterfall. It was one of the best days and we have memories which myslef and Kirstie will never forget.
It was Saturday night and on this day in chiangmai they have a night bazar where you can buy cheap souvenirs, bags, clothes etc and apparently some of the best street food around. I was not convinced by this. We got dumplings which Kirstie didn't like and then I got a Thai sausage which gave me stomach ache all through the night. The place was too hot and over crowded you could barely move. Overall I didn't rate it much.
Tomorrow we say goodbye to Thailand head to Laos.
