The world is my school. Today my classroom is an 8-passenger plane to Milford Sound, and on a tiny cruise boat. Milford Sound, and Queenstown, South Island, NZ.
I woke up at around 12:05PM
and got dressed to go on a plane to Milford Sound then took a cruise around the area. I only had a little while to get ready before we had to go. I went as fast as I could and before you know it, I was in a van on my way to the airfield where we took off in a tiny little plane.
The plane was very bumpy and people were throwing up. Luckily they had barf bags! I loved the flight there because I got to sit in the front with the pilot. His name was Grant and he was so funny! It was also really pretty outside when we were over the snowy mountains. I felt little bit sick on this flight! I also wanted to know why the flight was so bumpy. I found out that it is because when wind goes over a flat surface it stays normal, but when it goes over a mountain it creates mountain waves, which makes your ride bumpy.
I was actually the most excited for the boat ride. On the ride we were able to go underneath a waterfall and I was out there when we went under. The water was pretty cold but I liked it anyway. On the boat they had drinks. Sadly none were for us, it was only coffee and tea, which I don't like. The ride was very long and quite boring most of the time (except for when we went under the waterfall). Around an hour later, we headed back to the "airport" to head back. The flight back was much worse; I felt sick this time but didn't throw up! When we finally landed I felt so much better and I felt like I wanted to kiss the floor!
Once we got back we sat down for 10-15 minutes then went straight into doing a hike. I really didn't want to do it because of two reasons.
1. The boiling hot heat
2. I was exhausted!
It took us an hour and a half to walk up this mountain! I was so relived when we got to the top. Now I have three words for you: I was starving, And of course thirsty but mainly starving.
Luckily there was a buffet at the top of the mountain. We quickly booked a table and because it was a buffet we got straight up and got our food. I actually finished my first course by the time the water and the rest of the drinks came. It was so pretty looking out on the Remarkables, except for the one that we climbed up. They are called the Remarkables because the mountain peaks run North to South.
That is quite remarkable.

Jupiter Jen I love the information about the mountain waves. It makes so much sense when you explain it. I'm glad you didn't throw up. It sounds like they are used to people getting sick. I hope you took pictures of sitting next to the pilot...that is very cool!
Aunt DeeAnn Wow -- What an interesting entry. It must have been wonderful to see the beauty of a waterfall from underneath! And I can't believe you got to sit next to the pilot on the bumpy plane ride. That is very brave of you. Please keep writing because I love to read about all of your adventures. XOXO Aunt DeeAnn
Paige This sounds like a great adventure. I would love to go under the waterfall. The plane ride would probably make me sick too. At least you got to sit next to the pilot! I enjoyed how you ate your first course of the buffet before the drinks were even served! You really were hungry! I can't wait to see some pictures and read more of your upcoming adventures, in Asia!
