The world is my school. Today my classroom was, on an airplane to the North Island from the South Island, staying in New Zealand.
Today was the earliest I ever woke up in all of the World Tour. 5:00am, I kind of had to so we could travel for three hours to Christchurch then hand back the camper. We start off and I sleep the whole time. I am woken up when we are just around the corner from the Maui station; we stopped at a McDonalds and finally got breakfast. Yummy pancakes again, but this time with really yummy hash browns. We arrive at the Maui Station and get unpacked from the van/packed into our suitcases. Before you know it we are back in the airport where we started. We arrive a little bit late so we have to rush to catch our flight.
I get onto the airplane and can't believe there are TV's for a 45-minute flight! It wasn't even overnight. I watched a 5-minute LEGO Lord of the Rings show and it was quite boring, so I changed to watching Wreck-It Ralph. I've already seen it before, but I watch it anyway. Within a short, but long amount of time, the flight is over and we are off of the plane. I like Auckland/North Island so far by what I've seen.
It feels so good to sit on a real bed and be in a hotel. Although I wish we had more time in the camper. I am a little bit sad that we never got to freedom camp, but with the bathroom and the water supply in the camper, I have to say we probably would've never made it.
Now I am on my way to meet Mr. Chris who is a long distance bike rider and one of Dad's friends from college. From what I know he seems so nice and down to earth! I can't wait to meet him…
… I just came back from dinner with Mr. Chris and his wife Ms. Susan and it was great! First we saw them at a bar called 'degrees'. I had a little pizza while the adults drank beer. About 25-minutes later we started looking for a place to eat a real dinner. We walked down through town and ended up going past all the restaurants because the adults were talking so they forgot about all of them. Once we made it to the end of town, they noticed, and we turned back around. They and us kids finally decided on a place. I got a cheeseburger with mashed potatoes though I never ended up eating it because Rosie Meets World didn't like her chicken skewers and I didn't like the burger, obviously, we switched. I liked hers much better! During dinner I had an interview with the Kiwi's (Mr. Chris and Ms. Susan) at the table and asked them about the national clothes, birds, and arts/music. They said the clothes were kiwi feathers that the Māori's used for warmth. The birds were the Kiwi bird and Mowas. Mowas were actually ran into extinction by the Māori's eating them. There was also a Hāast Eagle that used to eat the Mowas too but when they were gone the Māori's started eating them and they were starved. Last but not least their arts and music. The Māori's had a horn that we would call Conch Shell, but they called it a Shofar.
We digested for a while after that then dessert menus came out. I was lucky because I got a children's menu and it comes with dessert. The choices were ice cream or jell-o. I went for the ice cream. It came with jellybeans and chocolate sauce. I am not a big fan of jellybeans so they all went to Rosie.
Another great day!

Gran Gautney I am always happy to hear your observations of what's happening. Did you think the country was pristine? Love, Gran
