The world is my school. Today my classroom was in a campervan, driving, driving, driving on my way to Queenstown, South Island, New Zealand. Here is what happened.
Today was road trip day and we finally made it to Queenstown. The trip was 4 hours long. On the way we stopped at the Paranga River dipped our feet, or for some, whole body into the freezing cold river. It was 6-8C. I couldn't believe that my Dad went all the way under the water, or that my sisters and mom even went up to their waist! I just stayed out and put only my feet in. Once we got back on the road we saw a sign for the Blue Pools, which was on the way to Queenstown. My mom can't resist a hike so of course we stopped here to check it out. We had to be quick because the sandflies were about to come out. The hike was cool through a rain forest and had 2 wiggly suspension bridges hanging over the river way down below. You could not have more than 10 people on them at a time or else… The Blue Pools are deep and blue and so clear they say that fish (trout and salmon) seem to be floating in air in them. You are not allowed to catch them. You could jump off the cliff next to them all day long- but sadly we had to go.
That was a perfectly crazy jumbo day and I happen to end up in a tiny campground where the guy waiting for us looks like he's in his undies and he wants us to face the lake (the fence with the road behind it, then more campers, then the lake.) After we slept downhill 2 feet from another caravan we woke up to see just how weird it all was and got out of that place quick.
What a day!
