Melbourne October 2009
As we are leaving Melbourne next month the blog and photo album are going to be fairly light reading and viewing for October as were trying to save a few dollars for the homeward bound trip. Anyways we did get up to a little in what was our 20th month away from home.
We’ve started packing up the room and discarding things that were not taking, getting bags ready for the Op shops (charity) and looking at what we want to send home by boat parcel. We booked the station wagon, ferry to Kangaroo Island in SA, a flight to Kuala Lumpar and a flight from Hong Kong to Turkey all as part off the final trip leg.
So the first weekend 3rd and 4th Wolfie was busy working but Corinne kept herself busy visiting friends on the Saturday and then taking advantage of the nice weather on the Sunday at the St Kilda beach markets and with the nice weather paddling in Port Phillip Bay. On Monday 5th a little bit of nostalgia when we caught Ghostbusters on the big screen at the Astor cinema (a converted theatre) it was well cool to see it on the big screen having been a little young last time it was out. The film was a little grainy and well used but it was definitely worth it.
Into the 2nd week we booked an appointment for our travel vaccines which Corinne had and nearly fainted poor girl. We spent the Saturday (17th) afternoon at the crown casino had a meal at one of the many restaurants and a little go on the $5 blackjack tables Wolfie starting with $20 and walking away with $50 which we went and watched Whip-it on the Half-pipe cinema with the bean-bags. On Sunday 18th Wolfie played in the inter-hospital soccer tournament (which they won the previous year) and although we tried we didn’t win but it was still lots of fun.
Another week passed and on the 25th we had a tour of the Rod Laver arena where they hold the Australian tennis open each year we got to see the changing rooms, were the players hang, the trophies and had a look around the place. In the afternoon we went to Carole Wallace’s 60th birthday party a very nice lady that Wolfie works with. Her house was gorgeous and there was a nice BBQ and one off her daughters made an amazing ice cream cake. On Sunday Wolfie went to the Celtic club and watched the not so mighty red men of late beat the manc’s Torre’s magic goal and the late icing on the cake from Ngog!!! We then spent the last few days of the month continuing to pack and get ready for leaving Melbourne.
