Melbourne September
On Saturday 5th September we headed out for dinner with the 4 main girls to a Asian restaurant called chin chins at koto moon. The food was great especially the dim sims, the conversation wasn’t bad either and we had a few glasses of wine. Then on Sunday we went to the Melbourne museum with Mary and Marika It was really cool they had loads of dinosaur skeletons, phar lap the famous race horse who died of mysterious circumstances when he was at the top of his game – turns out he did have an edge on the other horses he heart was considerable bigger than a regular horse and an insect place with loads of spiders (the biggest being this south American one, huge ants that can strip a dead cow and other aussie insects amongst other things.
The rest of the museum included an aboriginal area, an area on the history of Melbourne which was really good and a rainforest area. We then spent the rest of the afternoon shopping in downtown Melbourne. We spent the rest of that week working and on Wednesday had dinner with a friend and Friday we went to the movies.
The next weekend with Wolfie on night Corinne got her hair cut on Saturday 12th September looked gorgeous, she spent the afternoon a school fete in Collingwood and bought home some cakes. Wolfie done an 8km run on the Sunday in between nights a little bit silly but still managed to do it. The rest of the weekend was uneventful up until FRIDAY 18th SPETEMBER!
Corinne’s birthday started with her pancake breakfast she had asked for complete with creamy nutella, banana and apple topping hmmmmmm! After some presents and cards we dressed and on a sunny day headed down to St Kilda to have lunch at the beachcomber restaurant just over the path was the beach and palm trees. The food was amazing and Corinne had a pina colada. Afterwards we jumped a cab to the jam factory to catch the new movie ‘G force’ about a group of guinea pigs who are top secret spies, It was in 3D and was well cool! It was then party time in the evening we all headed out to the strike bowling alley cupcakes in tow. Loads of Corinne’s work friends and the our flat mates jenny and liam turned up to help Corinne celebrate her birthday with a game of bowling and pizza, followed by a stint in the karaoke room Corinne had a top time singing and dancing about.
As part of Corinne’s birthday present she asked to go to the Melbourne show and we did on Saturday 19th. The weather was nice but it wasn’t as great as the year before, we headed there on the tram and then the train with jenny and liam. Once at the show we looked around the show bag hall to decide which show bags to get. We looked around the giant food tasting tent and tried lots of samples and buying one of the show bags filled with herby rubs and meat coatings. Next it was the dogs in the show hall and then the NAB nursery were all the baby farm animals where!
We watched a beer cooking demonstration with our 2nd favourite masterchef contestant Chris Badenoch. He made beer panklets little mini pancakes and put beer into the batter which made them lighter and puffier topped of with fresh salmon, cream cheese and caviar very nice! We were going to wait for the firework show but the wet weather meant it was cancelled and so we went back the showbag hall and grabbed our showbags before heading home on the train.
Sunday 20th September – Sunday 27th September - separate blog
A quite end to the month spent working and saving pennies, we did however manage to plan the Australia trip for the end of the year if you see the picture of the map you’ll see that the green lines are were we have been and the blue line up the middle and down the left side is our planned trip. We booked flights to Kuala Lumpar and for the asia leg of the trip and then a flight to Europe on the homeward bound leg. So everything is coming together.
