September 5 – Today my family and I drove from Longreach to the outskirts of Winton were there was a Dinosaur Museum. When we arrived in the carpark of the Dinosaur Museum we had lunch and then went for a walk to a laboratory where they cleaned off all the dirt and other stuff still on the bone or fossil. When they find the bones in the ground to preserve the bone they wet it in a mixture like nail polish then they cover it in wet newspaper, hessian and plaster. After that we went in the museum where we saw the bones of different dinosaurs laid out on a table. Then we went on a bus ride to a jump up rock which is a flat top mesa. Then we drove to the other side of Winton where we free camped next to a river and had tea and went to bed.
September 6- Since we left home we have covered about 2000 km in 5 days. Today we got up and hit the road we drove from Winton to Just past Cloncurry. We visited Mary Kathleen, west of Cloncurry, which is an old, abandoned and unused town and uranium mine. We saw the remains of the old ANZ bank that had checked tiles. After that we went in the old mine where there was a lake of water in a pit where they use to mine. The colour of the water was aqua or turquoise a picture could not capture the colour of the water. Then we drove to a small lake similar to Glenbawn but smaller to camp for the night. Once we arrived we went for a walk and saw two eagles and their nest sitting in a tree when we came back I went for a swim in the lake then had happy hour and tea. After tea we played a card game called Penny on the Queen and went to bed.
september 7 – Today we drove from a small lake like Glenbawn dam to Camooweal. In the morning I made a fort of rocks and dirt before we left. We stopped at Mt Isa and went for a walk to find a coffee shop, when we did I got a hot chocolate. Then we went to a very cool park (the best of the trip so far) it was a lot of fun. Then we finally arrived at Camooweal, we camped out the back of a pub. After we set up the caravan we went for a swim in the pool. Then we went over to the pub to watch the footy and had a drink then came back for tea and played a game of cards.
