September -3rd
We have driven about 1400km over the past three days. We drove through Tambo and Blackall but only stopped for the bakery. When we got to Barcaldine for lunch, we had buns and poppers then went for a walk past a sculpture of a dog that was made of old nuts and bolts, I climbed a tree as well. Then we saw a 200 year old tree that had died and been restored. It’s a very historical site. Then we arrived at Longreach we finally went for a swim in the pool because it was very hot. Then Dad, Jack, Lachie and I went for a walk to the fence of the of the QANTAS airport to see some old planes. We saw a train with many carriages and the passengers were very smelly and very noisy. JK they were cows. Moo!
September -4 today we went to the Stockman’s Hall of Fame it was very interesting because there was lots of information and pictures about old stockman and history of settlement something that I thought was really interesting was that they sometimes bartered goods / things they wanted. For example a stockman bartered some tobacco for leather leggings. Then we saw a live show run by a stockman called Lachie Cassor. He talk about different types of horses and their history, his horse could do tricks, such as, when he put a saddle cloth on his back he pulled it straight back off. Lachie could also stand on the top of the horse and crack a whip. After that Lachie bought out his pet Brahman bull named Jigsaw everybody got to pat him and a picture with him after the show. Then we went to lunch at a bakery in the main street. After that we went back to the caravan and saw brolgas which are big birds, they came right up to us but we weren’t aloud to feed them. Then we had happy hour and tea.
