Karumba
We drove from Burketown to Karumba. On the way we stopped at Leichhardt falls. It was like desert all around, it was a gorge surrounded by sandy hills, and it was hot and dry. In the gorge was a waterfall that was not flowing. We were running around on the sand dunes and we almost lost our thongs in the mini avalanche that came down the dune after us. After that we drove on to Normanton. We stopped and got our photo taken with Krys, the big fake croc. Then we looked around Normanton some more. Then we drove to Karumba and stayed three nights so we could watch the footy grand final. That afternoon we went to the pool and had a swim. We did bombs and jumped in, it was a lot of fun. We also went down to the beach and walked along to a pub on the water it was called sun set tavern, it reminded all of us of Fiji the sun set over the water. We also saw a lady with a after that we walked back to the caravan and had tea. The next day we went to the barra centre. We got to see a lot of barra and we learnt some information about barra and what they do in the wild and how they evolve to their environment. Also, we learnt that some of the smaller fish in the centre’s pond were getting bullied and eaten by the bigger fish because they swam in schools, which is what they would normally do in the wild. So to stop being killed they changed their behaviour and they went off on their own so they were harder to catch. We went on a tour and we got to feed barra. Did you know that barra have no teeth so to instead of biting their prey they slurps all their food and all the water then they filter the water through their gills. The next day we tried fishing down in the river with no success. Later that afternoon we went back to the van and set up for the NRL grand final in my opinion the Raiders got robbed and they should have won. Ricky Stewart said ‘I don’t really want to express my thoughts about the game’ and I feel the same.

Nannette and Poppy Den Wow, what an interesting type of fish is the barramundi. I didn't know that they didn't have teeth..... sounds like they are very elusive to catch. Yes it was a disappointing finish to the grandfinal …. Ricky was very wise in his decision of not expressing his thoughts.
